January 19, 2010: 2009 Stats

My exercising stats remained pretty steady from 2008 to 2009, with some slight increases in my Trike usage. Even though the number of times I used my trike decreased slightly (mostly due to weather I believe), most other averages and totals went up.

Exerbent usage remained about the same, only slightly lower in a couple categories.

I had a few more walking excursions for exercise in 2009 versus 2008. This was mostly due to a period in November when the weather wasn't suitable for biking and my exerbent sat in my home partially broken until I fixed it.

I added two more stats to my exerbent usage table this year: average calories burned (which I didn't really keep track of prior to 2008), and "recovery score". Recovery score is a number that you can discover at the end of your workout, and I believe it's basically the number of beats per minute your heart rate slows within the first one minute after your workout is done. I have no idea how accurate this number is, and it can vary greatly from just a few beats to 24 beats per minute. But I think the average over the course of a year might be close to accurate. I think basically the higher the number, the better your recovery score, and essentially the healthier you are. I couldn't keep this stat prior to 2008 because the heart rate monitor on my exerbent wasn't working.

January 12, 2010: Holiday Weight Gain

Well, I managed to gain somewhere between 10 and 15 pounds over the holidays, or rather in the past few months. This wasn't particularly unexpected and is only slightly disappointing since I know I can lose this back again. This was a result of less-frequent exercise, a partially-broken exerbent (now repaired), over-eating, eating high sugar- and fat-content foods, and imbibing in some libations.

I'm back now to daily exercise on my exerbent and better eating habits.

I saw on TV on the Jane Velez-Mitchell show on CNN-HN one of the former winners of "Biggest Loser", a man who had lost over 200 pounds on the show trimming down from about 410 pounds to around 180 pounds, but then gained the weight back again and is once again around 400 pounds! Yikes! He was a guest on the show and basically told us that he was able to maintain his weight loss for 18 months or so, but then got back into the same old habits of eating lots of food and not exercising. I feel for the guy as I know how easy it can be to revert to old habits, but I hope he can get back on track. He's now doing another reality show related to his weight.

Also saw Valerie Bertinelli on the Joy Behar Show last night. Man what a babe at nearly 50 years old! Of course I thought she was a babe even when she was heavier and going all the way back to "One Day at a Time" show. Please look me up if you're ever in Wyoming, Valerie :-)

OK; well back to the grindstone. I'll post my 2009 stats in the next few weeks.
