Schwinn Exerbents

The recumbent exercise bicycle I purchased in spring 2006 is the Schwinn 213R from amazon.com for about $450. Between that time and the end of 2008, I have logged about 260 hours of spinning on the bike. This section of exerbent.com is all about Schwinn recumbent exercise bicycles, with a focus on the 213R and similar models.

As of January 2009, this exerbent is no longer sold new by Schwinn, but has been replaced by other similar models.

Links

Here are some links to get us started:

  • Owner's manual for the 213R from the Schwinn web site (.pdf)
  • Assembly manual for the 213R from the Schwinn web site (.pdf)
  • Level information (view this to get information about all the program levels for the Schwinn computer. It's a very large file so it may be a little slow)

Advice for Schwinn and other ExerBent manufacturers:

  • Create some super-heavyweight-capable exerbents in addition to the ones you already make. Folks who are 400-500 pounds really need your help more than folks just a bit overweight.
  • Computer/Display improvements:
    • Allow for a "wide" view that shows the entire level's intervals
    • Make use of non-volitile RAM so that if the power goes out or I unplug my machine, the data I've entered in my profile and for custom programs remains intact
