RPM's versus Speed

The faster you pedal, the higher your RPM's (pedal Revolutions Per Minute), and the faster your virtual speed. Here's a graph demonstrating RPMs versus speed for each interal level (click image for a larger view):

I had hoped the graph would show an optimal rpm speed that would produce the biggest distance gain for the rpm buck, but sadly it doesn't; but note that the lines are not linear either.
